Galerie Joseph Tang
The Joseph Tang Gallery opened in the Marais in Paris in October 2011. It occupies the former project space, The Institute of Social Hypocrisy, of artist Victor Boullet.
The gallery produces concise exhibitions of international artists and has a particular interest in artists born after 1970. The gallery asks artists to work in a specific upstairs space and encourages collaborations.
Beyond their own practice, the emphasis is on exchange. As a horizontal academic platform, the gallery favours free and open dialogues, encouraging the pollination of ideas, the merging of which creates the coherent structure of the gallery’s programme. This horizontal relationship aims to eliminate the hierarchical structure of traditional galleries. The Joseph Tang Gallery understands its work less as a commercial relationship, and more as an active, intellectual and economic partnership for each of its artistic productions.
