Since its creation, the gallery has presented the artistic currents of the immediate post-war period, notably those of the Cobra movement with the”word-paintings”of Asger Jorn and Christian Dotremont and the gestural and lyrical abstractions of Jean Messagier or Hans Hartung.
Since 2016, the gallery has expanded its programming to support established and emerging contemporary artists from different cultural backgrounds, including Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, and the Indian, Nigerian, and Georgian diasporas in France and the United States. Artists with an avant-garde and multi-ethnic language, who, fully aware of the shifting realities of cultural geography, demonstrate the ability to reflect their cultural heritage by integrating it into Western artistic experiences.
The gallery invest in projects to raise the visibility of women artists. As part of Art Paris 2019, in collaboration with AWARE, it presented a selection of works highlighting Georgian artist Véra Pagava and Hungarian artist Marta Pan. The gallery also fosters intercultural dialogues through the projects of artists native from the Bay of Bengal, such as Anju Chaudhuri and Monica Jahan Bose, who contribute helping to rebalance voices from regions underrepresented on the global art scene.The gallery commitments to environment the concerns, supporting artists like Soly Cissé, who integrates long-standing ecological themes into the social dimension of his work.
Regularly participating in art fairs such as Art Paris, Akaa Art & Design Fair, Volta New York, Basel, and Investec Cape Town in South Africa, the gallery collaborates with institutions like the Passerelle Contemporrary art center in Brest and the Pernod-Ricard Foundation. It also supports residencies, such as Ibrahim Ballo’s at the Institut Français and the Cité Internationale des Arts in 2020. The gallery invites university researchers to contribute to its catalogues and monographs and also contributes to art loans for museum exhibitions, such as its participation in the “Le Wax” exhibition at the Musée de l’Homme, Paris (February 5 – September.
Established since 1997 in the Art Drouot district of Paris, the gallery is a member of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art
