Galerie Jean-François Cazeau
Starting Sunday 2023
The exhibition explores the evolution of the artist's artistic approach, from his highly lyrical "landscapes of the soul", spiritual and sensual works, to his latest, more conceptual "self archeologies". His work is inspired by the light and landscapes he encountered during his many visits to Asia, rendered abstractly in shores of ink and gold dust. His Archaeological Sites series, begun in 2019 and unveiled on this occasion, reflects a writing style in darker tones, which seems to map real-life moments.
Opening its gates in 2009 in Paris, right next to the Picasso Museum, the Gallery Jean-François Cazeau gathers the great names of modernity, from Renoir to Masson, Braque, Picasso all the way to César and Giacometti. The only rule the operates is the singularity of each artwork and quality above the ephemeral desires of the market. “The great artists find their way back to the top above others”, to quote Jean-François Cazeau.
