The Professional Committee of Art Galleries, Villa Albertine, and Art Basel are pleased to announce that Kelly Sinnapah Mary and the James Cohan Gallery are the winners of the new edition of the CPGA – Villa Albertine Étant donnés Prize, awarded on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Miami.
“We are pleased to award the prize to Kelly Sinnapah Mary of James Cohan Gallery. The jury wishes to commend Sinnapah Mary’s work, which is distinguished by profound intercultural references and a dialogue with art history grounded in strong metaphorical character. The jury also acknowledges the excellence of the work of Sylvie Selig of the gallery mor charpentier,” declared the jury unanimously.
Co-founded by the CPGA and Villa Albertine, the CPGA–Villa Albertine Étant donnés Prize highlights the work of contemporary artists and recognizes the essential role of galleries in developing the international careers of artists from the French art scene. The prize awards a grant of $15,000, shared between a French artist (or an artist based in France) and their representing gallery at Art Basel Miami Beach, in recognition of significant artistic contributions.
For this new edition, the CPGA–Villa Albertine Étant donnés Prize was awarded by a jury composed of patrons and prominent figures from the French and American art worlds: Lena Baume (philanthropist and art collector), Celia Birbragher (Colombian publisher, researcher, collector, artist, critic, leader, and entrepreneur), Rodolphe Blavy (special advisor at the IMF and collector), Cathleen Chaffee (Charles Balbach Chief Curator, Buffalo AKG Art Museum), and Catherine Petitgas (art historian, philanthropist, and art collector).
