25 Oct. 2025
The Professional Committee of Art Galleries is pleased to award this distinction to Galerie Sobering. Sobering is a Parisian gallery located in the Marais, founded in 2013 with the ambition of promoting an approach to contemporary painting that is both rigorous and sensitive.
“Light tells a story, silhouettes emerge: Stringless Symphony suspends time.” — Sobering Galerie
Craig Cameron-Mackintosh’s first solo show in Paris, Stringless Symphony, unfolds a painting guided by the grammar of seeing: intimate framing, anticipation, textures, and thresholds of visibility. The bodies are rarely frontal; they appear as silhouettes, reflections, and cast shadows. Draperies, folds, and openings to the outside compose a subtle setting where everyday life becomes unsettled. Light does not illuminate; it tells a story, gliding over surfaces and suspending time. Each canvas captures a moment of tipping between appearance and disappearance, wakefulness and dream.
Discover the exhibition Stringless Symphony until November 6.
